Perspective

Confidence

I recently heard the phrase that confidence is domain specific.

I like this phrase because it gets rid of any confusion.

Confidence is simply having knowledge in a specific domain.

It doesn’t just happen.

Many of us start a new job or have a conversation with someone where we feel out of our depth. Or some are unable to come across confidently when speaking to the opposite sex.

There’s always something we lack confidence in and that’s normal.

By understanding that it’s just a lack of knowledge in whatever it is, means you’re in full control of gaining confidence in that domain.

Sometimes it takes time, and sometimes it takes understanding. But it’s never out of your control.

If you know your shit, I guarantee you’d come across confidently.

So next time you don’t seem confident, remember that you can do something about it.

Do the work and you’ll be all good.

Tool

Final Round AI

I stumbled across this tool on TikTok and the video blew my mind.

That might be because I don’t completely understand how all of this AI stuff works, but seeing it being used in a practical way is exciting.

What does the tool do?

It’s an interview copilot.

But I think that’s actually an understatement. It basically can listen to the whole conversation and come up with answers for you to help you ace your interview.

On the surface that may not sound that impressive, because we’ve all used ChatGPT and we know that it can answer industry specific questions with relative accuracy.

The impressive part is the speed of this tool.

It gives you answers in real time.

Imagine sitting in an interview with this tool open on your screen. The interviewer asks a complicated question you don’t know the answer to. The co-pilot will provide you with a great answer and all you have to do is deliver the answer in a way that doesn’t look like you’re reading.

The first thought that comes to mind is that the whole interview process is going to have to change.

You could simply lie on your resume and ace all of the interviews. If the job is fully remote, it may take a while before they figure out you can’t do the job.

These are crazy times, I wonder if this will impact the hiring process.

Check out the tool here.

The Life You Want

Many of us feel stuck or unsure about how to take the next step, or even which direction to take it in.

This article tackles those problems by applying a business strategy approach to life.

A lot of the time we just think about what we want to do or wish things would improve.

This article gives you practical steps on how to make progress, but you've got to devote the time to do it, just like anything else.

This article is about creating a life strategy and these are the steps/questions:

  1. How do I define a great life?

  2. What is my life purpose?

  3. What is my life vision?

  4. How do I assess my life portfolio?

  5. What can I learn from benchmarks?

  6. What portfolio choices can I make?

  7. How can I ensure a successful, sustained life change?

By answering these thoughtfully and intentionally, you should be in a better place.

The article walks you through each question and even provides you with a framework in which to answer them.

I've shared an image below to explain what I mean.

If you want to give it a go you can read the article here.

And here is the PDF to make it even easier for you.

Concept

Tyranny of The Minority

I need to remind myself of this on a regular basis.

The people making the most noise are normally on either end of the spectrum.

But they aren’t treated as if they are on the edges. They are normally treated as the group that represents the majority.

Most of the people in the middle, who share pretty moderate views and who aren’t annoyed or triggered by most of what goes on in the world, don’t shout about much.

That’s where the majority lies.

That’s not to say that the fringe cases don’t have a reason to make noise. Everyone has the right to be heard.

I’m just saying we constantly fall into the trap of assuming that the fringes ARE the majority.

This thinking creates a huge divide where people are forced to take sides.

So next time you hear a view point being represented by a few, being applied to the majority, take it with a pinch of salt.

Take a step back and ask yourself whether you think everyone believes that or whether it’s divisive media trying to get views.

Everyone has a different intention.

And most people's intention is to take care of their friends and family and live a happy life.
