Today’s guest is Sam Simmons.
Sam founded MintPass, a Travel-based collectorship platform that allows you to turn your travel experiences into digital identity.
We've kind of just dealt with the way we plan and share our travels and it just makes sense to have it all in one place. Sam's working on some interesting things and I can't wait to use the app.
In the episode, we discuss:
• What MintPass is and how it works
• Identifying an opportunity in a passion area
• Building a web2 product with Web3 in mind
• The many directions the app can go
• Taking action on an idea
• Gamification is everything
And so much more...

Perspective
Trust compounds - so does mistrust
This is one of Naval Ravikant’s lessons.
Trust is such an interesting concept. It takes years to build and can be broken in seconds.
It’s also completely subjective. We may believe we have built someone’s trust, but it’s never up to us.
You can work as hard as you like to get someone to trust you, but they need to decide whether they do or not.
I think it’s something we take for granted sometimes. We’re social animals and by relying on people we can trust, we can make a lot more progress in shorter amounts of time.
Take note of the people you trust.
Those relationships are more valuable than you think.
And try your best not to break it.
Tool
Stable Audio
AI-generated audio will become a tool we frequently use.
If we need some royalty-free music for a video or to find inspiration for your next hit, text-to-audio is going to play a part.
Stability AI, the team behind stable diffusion, the text-to-image platform, has now created Stable Audio.
I messed around with it and it’s far from perfect.
But, even though the output isn’t great, I need to remind myself how this music is being created.
It’s trying its best to create a track based on the words I type. The more descriptive I got, the better the output, but it still needs work.
And it will get there.
This is just the beginning, and it’s fascinating to see where we’re heading.
How big of an impact do you think Stable Audio will have on multiple industries?
Consume (Read / Watch / Listen)
Roy
Have you heard the phrase, life is a video game?
Many successful people use this analogy to motivate themselves to level up and distance themselves from becoming emotionally attached to things.
It is easier said than done, but not having an emotional attachment to things like money can help you make riskier decisions for long-term gain.
The video above is an interpretation of this analogy and, like the rest of the Rick and Morty show, it’s fantastic.
They make a tongue-in-cheek commentary about life and decisions you make when certain things happen to you.
It puts an objective twist on things which is difficult when trying to apply an objective view to your own life.
Let me know what you think.
Concept
Joyconomy
The joconomy is a trend that’s picking up.
Post-covid, people are looking to add more fun into their lives, but need a helping hand to do so.
It’s almost like we’re desperate for fun, but we’ve forgotten how to be bored and creative and so we need businesses to show us how to do it again.
These are the trends picking up in “joyconomy” space.
Children like offerings for adults. McDonald's is introducing Happy Meals for adults.
Platforms prioritizing positivity and intimacy like Gas, which allows users to anonymously complement each other.
Making exercise more entertaining by adding equipment like trampolines and dance.
These trends are picking up and might add a unique twist to your current offering.
